About :

Dan Frizsell is a Nashville-based producer, mixer, engineer, and songwriter with over 30 years of experience shaping hit records across country and rock music. His career began at age 11, performing with his family band, The Waymasters, and later expanded through formal training at college in Asheville, North Carolina, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Recording Arts and Jazz Studies.

After moving to Nashville in 1994, Dan joined Secret Sound Studio as an assistant engineer and quickly became embedded in the city’s recording scene. He built a reputation for both technical excellence and musical instinct, engineering demo sessions, playing bass, and working with artists in studios, on the road, and in local venues. As his career progressed, Dan transitioned his focus to full-time production and engineering.

Dan played bass and recorded and mixed David Ball’s “Riding with Private Malone,” the most-played song of 2001, and engineered Jason Aldean’s self-titled debut album for Broken Bow Records. His extensive credits include projects with Craig Morgan, Joe Diffie, Sherrie Austin, Shannon Lawson, and many others. As a songwriter, Dan has earned cuts and co-writes with artists and writers such as Sherrie Austin, Ash Bowers, Shaun Brooks, Rodney Clawson, Ben Glover, and Jon Stone.

In 2007, Dan acquired Legends Studio, a historic Nashville recording studio formerly owned by legendary producer Chips Moman. Carrying forward that legacy, Dan has produced, mixed, and engineered records for artists including Chris Jansen, Mo Pitney, Josh Thompson, American Young, James Wesley, Steve Richards, and David Ball, whose album Freewheeler received critical acclaim. His work also includes tracks for Florida Georgia Line, Blake Shelton, and Big & Rich.

Dan’s production and engineering reach beyond country music. He contributed engineering and mixing work to Kid Rock’s album Bad Reputation, bringing his signature blend of grit, clarity, and musical balance to the project. In 2016, Dan engineered and mixed the Canadian Country Music Association’s Album of the Year for Gord Bamford. He also worked closely with Lee Brice on “Woman Like You,” I Don’t Dance, and produced Brice’s self-titled album Lee Brice, featuring the chart-topping hit “Rumor.”
